Since I am currently a Las Vegas local, I have participated in my share of this city’s afternoon teas. I have been fond of this type of tea ritual for the past two decades, and have experienced it in famous locations throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, and even Egypt.

There is nothing like it, and the city of Las Vegas has various styles, including the very posh, the boozy, and ones inside a casual café.
I am known as being quite serious regarding my adoration for this British tradition, and this is part three of my series of “For the Love of Afternoon Tea”. I have also written a blog about the history, and the basics of the afternoon tea tradition. To read more on my afternoon tea global experiences, click on the links below.

In this post, I am covering three of my recent Las Vegas afternoon tea experiences – the posh setting of the Petrosian Bar inside the Bellagio; the boozy Upside Down Tea Party inside the Shag Room; and a Vegas local’s favorite, Coffee Religion. All were great experiences, and just reflect the variety this city has to offer- Enjoy!

Petrossian Bar – The Bellagio
The Petrossian Bar inside the Bellagio offers an elegant afternoon tea service, as well as being world famous for its caviar. Everything about this service is finely detailed from the silver service wear, the elegant gold and white china, and the quality of their teas.
The courses served were traditional, with a twist of modern, and well executed:
- Bellagio Signature Scones served with clotted cream, bordier butter and seasonal jam
- Tea Sandwiches: Farm Egg Salad, Jamon Iberico, English Cucumber, and Truffle Gorgere
- French Pastries: Raspberry Macaroon, Triple chocolate Cake and Spiked Lemon Petit Gateau

I also engaged in a cocktail prior to my friends arrival, because that is one of my habitual practices wherever I go. The signature cocktails at the Petrossian Bar are superb, and I do recommend having one prior to your tea service.

Boozy Upside Down Tea Party – Virgin Hotel
A few friends of mine, who also love the afternoon tea experience, decided to check out The Shag Room (Virgin Hotel) to indulge in their Boozy Upside Down Tea Party. It was a fun experience, and different from other afternoon teas that I had experienced in the states or abroad. So for those who love a traditional afternoon tea, keep your mind open for this one.

I may sound nit-picky but for those who do afternoon tea, this one was quite unique, so let go of everything you have learned. First of all, you are not offered any scones. You will receive three savories and four sweets only. It is not anything to get filled up on like a traditional tea, but it was good none the less. Although we were not fond of the Crab Rangoon Napoleon, which was very fishy, I mean extremely fishy. I eat a lot of seafood as you know, and I had a difficult time eating this one.
You may just enjoy this experience, and as I mentioned this upside down tea party is very different from a traditional tea service. It was still a great experience, and it made for a fun boozy time with my girl friends.
On the Menu
Savories – Chicken Curry Gougere | Crab Rangoon Napoleon | Unicorn Cookie
Sweets– Kiss My Lips | Fruit Jellies | Cactus Macaron | Desert Sunset Yuzu Tart

Coffee Religion
Coffee Religion is located in a strip mall of an older Las Vegas neighborhood, close to the Strip, and is a favorite of the local food crowd. Not only do they offer quality coffee drinks and delicious café cuisine with an Asian twist, including Tamago Sandos and MoMo’s (Himalayan dumplings), they also serve a beautiful afternoon tea.

I have come in many times not only for their Tamago Sandos and MoMo’s, but to also indulge in their afternoon tea. Several of their menu favorites are served during the tea service, including their Pear Toast and Tamago Sandos, which is one of my favorites.

I appreciate the afternoon tea service here because they keep with the traditional format of a fine selection of organic teas, scones with clotted cream and preserves, finger sandwiches, and pastries. Everything served at Coffee Religion is freshly made and absolutely delicious, it is quite a gem of place.
