Being a New Waver turned Goth Girl back in the 80s and 90s, running into the Depeche Mode Baar in Old Town Tallinn was a double take moment. DM was a huge part of my youth as well into my adulthood. I have seen these Brits in concert more than any band in my repertoire, and have traveled to several states to see them live. How did I not know there was a Depeche Mode Barr in Tallinn? Well now I know, and if you did not know, now you know.

I was on a walking tour of Old Town Tallinn when our group walked right by it. My eyes caught the small red and black sign with the familiar Violator Rose, I would know that flower anywhere. My high school boyfriend painted a Violator Rose on the sleeve of my black leather biker jacket when I was 18. That right there is another story!
I had made note of the location on my Maps app, and took a photo of the opening hours. Since I was on a morning walking tour, I would have to wait until the evening for them to open. Too bad that I still did not have that biker jacket with the Violator Rose painted on the sleeve. It would not have made a difference anyways because I could not fit in it, even if I lost 20 lbs.

The Depeche Mode Baar serves cocktails that are named after many of DMs beloved hits, as well as other artists. In my hand was a drink named after one of my favorite Depeche Mode songs “Just can’t get enough”, which was cranberry and gin. My drink name was the theme of the evening as I soaked in all the Depeche Mode vibe around me. It was memorable.

About the Baar:
Depeche Mode Bar was originally opened in 1999 by a devoted fan. But it was in 2001 when DM really hit the big time – on the 27th of August Depeche Mode members Martin L Gore, Andy Fletcher and Christian Eigner partied the night away in DM Bar before their Tallinn concert. Of the 15th of March in 2006, the Band came back to their favourite Tallinn night spot named after them. Meanwhile, the DM bar was caught by photographer/designer/director Anton Corbijn and once again by Andy Fletcher along with Client.

The bar is a Depeche Mode fan’s dream that has been awakened. It does not matter what level of fan you are, this swanky and sexy watering hole is sure to arouse the DM love in everyone. There are multiple basement level club rooms with plenty of seating, wall to wall Depeche Mode paraphernalia, and DM music pumping through the walls.
Depeche Mode Baar
As soon as I walked into the bar I had gone live on Facebook, and all my Depeche Mode fan friends caught an inside glimpse. They too did not know there was an all out DM Baar in Tallinn, but now they do. Many of them wanted to do a type of Depeche Mode pilgrimage to Tallinn to party at this bar. Well, ‘People are People’, and I am sure I will join them because I ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’.
